TOUCHING LIVES

Laparoscopic Surgery breathes back life into 73 –year old with rare hernia

A 73 year-old woman, was struggling to breathe and was taken to a local doctor in a small town in Maharashtra. When she continued to have problems, a specialist told her she had a rare hernia causing pressure on her lung. Eventually, she was bought to Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai, to Dr. Nitish Jhawar, Consultant Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgery. At her advanced age, it was critical that a minimally invasive procedure be performed, especially since utmost precision was required with her lungs being involved. Soon Dr.Jhawar removed the hernia via laparoscopy. She has since recovered and has thanked the doctor for helping her breathe normally and giving her a chance to lead a good quality life.
