7 year-old critical patient treated at Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai
Vinod Gopal Yewale was out in the market with Devraj, his 7 year-old son, when they met with a terrible accident in Karjat, where a RMC mixer ran over the child while backing up. Mr. Yewale stated that his son’s intestines were bulging out and he had a broken bone in his forearm. The child was soon rushed to the closest hospital in Karjat, but the hospital wasn’t prepared to deal with such a severe case. The anxious father then went to multiple hospitals before finally bringing Devraj to Apollo Hospital, Navi Mumbai, where the patient was admitted in the care of Dr. Hemant Lohoti, Consultant, Pediatric Surgery. Dr. Lahoti performed three successful surgeries on the patient, and helped the child recover with a team of experts including Dr.Siddhart Yadav, Consultant, Orthopaedic & Joint Replacement Surgery, Dr.Charudutta Chaudhari, Consultant Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Nitin Jagasia, Head of Emergency services and Dr. Abhijit Bagde, Consultant, Pediatric Intensivist. Devraj’s mother later revealed that when they first came to the hospital, they weren’t sure if their son would make it, but in just a little over a month, Devraj is healthy and back to his normal life. She especially thanked Dr. Lahoti for giving her hope and helping the family throughout Devraj’s treatment.
